Use of the Hammerhead Pontoon
General Requirements
1) Use of the facility must be with due consideration to other Members and Visitors. Any misuse or breach of these bylaws should be reported to the Committee (Rule 22).
2) When on the Hammerhead, Members’ vessels must fly the Club Burgee for the duration of their
occupancy.
3) All mooring is at the discretion of the Rear Commodore Stores (or the Deputy, R C Stores) in line with the published booking procedure (decisions will be supported by the General Committee).
4) Locking vessels on to the Hammerhead Pontoon is strictly forbidden.
5) It is forbidden to either launch or recover a tender or dinghy from any part of the pontoon or hammerhead. Tender or dinghies must only be launched or recovered using the slipway. Furthermore, no tender or dinghy shall be left unattended on any part of the pontoon or hammerhead at any time (unless it is safely secured in your allocated berth).
6) The Club reserves the right to charge for any un-authorised mooring (see Mooring & Storage
Rates/Charges as published on the Club’s website and on the Club’s Official Notice Board).
Use of the General Berth (North end)
7) No vessel is to encroach on to the Tide Stop Berth (Yellow area).
8) Members entitled to use the Tide Stop Berth must not encroach onto, or moor, on the General Berth
without booking, using the published booking procedure.
9) All vessels wishing to use the Hammerhead General Berths must use the published booking procedure.
10) Rafting is permitted on the General Berth to a maximum of 2 boats. Vessels should be moored in
opposite directions with the larger boat on the inside, as is good practice. Boat owners must provide
sufficient fenders and use secure springs & mooring lines.
11) All vessels on the Hammerhead will be subject to a scale of charges as follows:
a) Members’ Brief stop (less than 15 minutes) solely to pick up or drop off crew etc:- Free of Charge
(booking not required). The Member must remain within the Club’s premises.
b) Members’ Short Stay up – to 4 hours: – Free of Charge.
c) Members staying longer than 4 hours: – see published Mooring & Storage Rates/Charges.
d) Members’ overnight stay: – see published Mooring & Storage Rates/Charges.
e) Non-Members / Visitors: – see published Mooring & Storage Rates/Charges.
Use of the Tide Stop Berth
12) The Tide Stop Berth is reserved for use by a Member whose Vessel is currently allocated an ECSC
semi-tidal mooring, solely as a short term berth. Vessels using this facility must not encroach onto the
General Berth (North End).
The Club reserves the right to charge for vessels that encroach onto the General Berth (see published
Mooring & Storage Rates/Charges).
13) The use of the Tide Stop Berth facility should be used for one tide only (e.g. when returning to the Club and there being insufficient water to return to the vessel’s allocated mooring, the vessel may stay on the Tide Stop Berth until the tide has returned, or until the vessel can be returned to its allocated mooring. The same principal applies to leaving the allocated mooring. A maximum of 18 hours is considered sufficient time allowed for this; however, under special circumstances this may be extended by agreement with the Rear Commodore Stores (or Deputy RC Stores). It is the Member’s responsibility to contact the Rear Commodore Stores (or Deputy RC Stores) to request any such special concession.
The Club reserves the right to charge for persistent overstaying on the Tide Stop Berth (see published
Mooring & Storage Rates/Charges).
14) Rafting is permitted to a maximum of 3 boats (Up to 6 Metres L.O.A.). Boat owners must provide
sufficient fenders and use secure springs and mooring lines.
15) Only 2 stays per week are allowed. The Club reserves the right to charge for additional Stays –
(see published Mooring & Storage Rates/Charges).
16) The Club reserves the right to charge the owner of any vessel moored on the Tidal Stop Berth
(yellow area) that is not currently allocated an ECSC semi-tidal mooring for unauthorised mooring –
(see published Mooring & Storage Rates/Charges).
